It is great that the Government has appointed a Motorcycle Expert Advisory Panel to tackle road safety for Victorian riders. But it is not great that they are only meeting 4 times a year! The motorcycle toll is way past last year's toll and out of control. Urgent action is required. It can't become a bureaucratic talkfest . When the road toll was plummeting in the 90's it was due to constant vigilance and consultation between VicRoads, the Police and the TAC. They worked out where the'hot spots' were and dedicated their resources appropriately. The motorcycle safety levy has resulted in a pot of gold waiting to be used. It needs to be used now with immediate and regular action: not quarterly meetings!
