Mental health condition? Exposure to bullying? You're not alone.

If you feel you are suffering any symptoms of anxiety or depression, you are not alone.  3 million Australians are living with depression or anxiety.

According to beyondblue, anxiety disorders are the most common mental disorders in Australia. One in four people – one in three women and one in five men – will experience an anxiety disorder during their lifetime.

Symptoms

A General Anxiety Disorder may include symptoms such as: feeling very worried, finding the anxiety prevents you carrying out everyday tasks, feeling restless or on edge, having difficulty concentrating, feeling irritable or having trouble sleeping.

Depression was described as having a persistently low mood for a period of at least two weeks, together with a loss of interest in your usual activities. Symptoms included: feeling fatigued, unusually emotional, getting angry or frustrated easily, loss of confidence or negative thought patterns.

Mental health at work

beyondblue reports that almost 50 per cent of Australian employees will experience some form of workplace bullying during their lives. Common causes of psychological injury in the workplace may include: feeling unsupported by your employer, feeling victimised or harassed, being subjected to an unreasonable workload or being bullied by a colleague or manager.

Help is available, and its important to find the right health professional to help you get your life back on track.

If you have suffered a psychological condition as a result of your employment, you may be entitled to compensation. When you call us on (03) 9321 9988, you will speak directly to a qualified lawyer – not a call centre.
