Age is no barrier to compensation

Age is no barrier to compensation

Recently Redlich's Work Injury Lawyers was successful in obtaining compensation for a 70-year-old client who had suffered injuries at work. This was achieved without the client having to step into a courtroom and avoiding the stress, anxiety and costs associated with it!

Our client was 67 years old when she injured her shoulders while cleaning equipment at work. She loved her job at the nursing home and thoroughly enjoyed the interactions she had with many patients. She had no intention of retiring any time soon.

She had worked with her employer for more than 20 years before she was injured; and although she was able to return to work and perform alternate duties, her employer eventually terminated her.

We assisted our client to lodge a WorkCover claim, enabling her to recover her medical expenses and lost wages after she stopped working.

In addition to these entitlements, we pursued a lump sum payment of compensation on her behalf as we believed the impact of this injury on our client to be significant.

We issued court proceedings, however we were able to convince the Defendant to settle our client's claim for compensation for a generous five figure settlement before the hearing.

Our client was delighted at the outcome and her claim served as a good reminder that age is not a barrier to compensation!

If you or someone you know has been injured and can no longer work in an occupation they enjoy, we invite you to speak to one of our expert injury lawyers on (03) 9321 9988.
