Adviceline Injury Lawyers has helped an injured worker obtain compensation from the Victorian WorkCover Authority after a workplace accident destroyed his ability to taste and smell.
While attempting to perform a routine maintenance job, the worker fell off a ladder at work and suffered a traumatic brain injury. He was hospitalised for a number of days after the fall, and despite extensive rehabilitation, was informed that he would not recover his taste or smell senses.
Adviceline Injury Lawyers lodged an application for a serious injury certificate on behalf of the worker with the Victorian WorkCover Authority. The certificate was granted and negotiations commenced to resolve the worker's claim for damages. Negotiations eventually resolved at $160,000 for pain and suffering damages plus retention of previous lump sum benefits he had already received for the injury.
