Adviceline Injury Lawyers is a specialist personal injury law firm in Victoria, with particular expertise in work injury (including hearing loss), accidents on the road, public place slips and trips and claims of negligence (i.e. medical negligence and misconduct; sexual abuse).
For more than 50 years, we have been helping injured Victorians access the compensation they need to get their lives back on track. We take on all types of cases and represent all parts of the community, including people who find it difficult to afford a lawyer or speak a language other than English. Several of our lawyers speak many different languages including Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin) and Greek.
We are after an experienced legal secretary to join the Adviceline team in our Melton office. As a key member of the team, you will be providing administrative and secretarial support to a group of professional staff, ultimately contributing to the development of an expert WorkCover and general personal injury practice.
Duties will include:
- file maintenance - electronic and paper (FileSite)
- diary management
- dictaphone typing
- preparation of correspondence
- monthly billing (CMS), cheque requests
- opening and closing files;
- scanning, distributing and sending mail (including electronic mail);
- dealing with clients on the phone and in person
- document lodgements
- preparing briefs to Counsel
- liaising with clients, insurers, Counsel and medical practitioners
- arranging medico-legal examinations
- following up document requests
- reception cover.
Within this role you will play an essential role in assisting our lawyers who are working on interesting and, often, complex matters within a friendly and supportive environment.
Your skills and experience
Given the nature of the role, it is essential that you have legal secretarial experience in personal injury litigation (either plaintiff or defendant). You will demonstrate excellent communication skills (both written and oral), demonstrate an eye for detail and strong initiative. Technically, you will demonstrate excellent proficiency in the MS Suite (Outlook, Word and Excel).
