Adviceline Injury Lawyers recently represented the widow of a man who was tragically killed by a garbage truck driver when he was cycling in East Victoria. As a result of her husband’s death, our client, who was a teacher, was unable to return to work in the same capacity due to the severity of her psychological injury.
Our team assisted her in:
- accessing the dependency entitlements through the TAC scheme as she had lost a dependant partner; and
- lodging her own TAC claim for psychological injuries that she had suffered as a result of the incident.
Our client was then able to access funding for medical treatment, weekly payments for her lost earnings as well as a lump sum payment for her psychological injury.
It is important to remember that TAC claims are not just limited to those who were directly involved in the transport accident. Close family members or witnesses who have sustained a psychological injury as a result of an accident, even though they were not directly involved in the transport accident, are still entitled to lodge a TAC claim.
If you or someone you know has suffered an injury as a result of a transport accident, call and speak to one of our TAC experts on (03) 9321 9988.
