Refugees have rights at work too!

Refugees have rights at work too!

Between Sunday 19 June 2016 and Saturday 25 June 2016, the nation will set aside the week to celebrate'Refugee Week'. Refugee Week is designed to raise awareness about the particular issues that affect refugees in Australia. One significant issue that refugees face is finding employment and adjusting to the complicated workplace system in Australia. Many have no knowledge or struggle to understand their rights under Australian workplace laws. It is important to remember that refugees are afforded the same basic rights and protections in the workplace as a worker who ordinarily resides in Victoria. Therefore, refugees who are employed in Victoria are also able to access entitlements, benefits and compensation for work-related injuries under the Victorian WorkCover system. If you are a refugee, or know someone who is and have suffered a physical and/or psychological injury by reason of work, please contact our Adviceline on (03) 9321 9988 to speak to one of our'no win, no fee' lawyers for advice.

No Win, No Fee. No Uplift Fee.
